Memdeklaro - Free open source tool to generate self-declared identity documents without third-party permission

Core Features

Memdeklaro runs entirely locally in your browser. No personal data you enter into the generator is transmitted to any external server or central database. You retain full control over all your identity information at all times.

The self-declared identity you create can include these user-defined fields:

• Self-chosen first name

• Self-chosen surname

• Self-declared birth date

• Your personal 35mm × 45mm photo

• Your handwritten signature

• Custom ID number

• Optional free-form notes field

The document intentionally excludes state-controlled data points including place of birth, citizenship or stateless status, and parents' names. This design removes ties to birth governments, birth cultures or abusive family backgrounds.

Usage Workflow

1. Fill out the identity generator form directly on the site. All processing happens on your local device.

2. Export the finished document, then print it as a standard 85.6mm × 54mm business card or CR-80 plastic ID card, or store a digital copy for your own use.

3. Use the self-declared ID in contexts where self-attestation of identity is accepted, to avoid relying on state-issued documents that exclude people arbitrarily.

Supported Use Cases

This tool is built for people who are denied official government ID for reasons unrelated to their own adult actions, including stateless people, people displaced by conflict, people rejected for ID based on their birth location or parentage, and anyone who wants a non-state controlled identity that avoids government surveillance.

Project Principles

Memdeklaro follows three core freedom principles:

1. Freedom of Name: You can select any name you prefer, with no approval required from state authorities, your family or your birth community.

2. Freedom of Belief: You can live according to your own values without restrictions imposed by the jurisdiction you happened to be born in.

3. Freedom of Association: You define your own social ties, home and community, rather than being assigned to groups based on birth status.

The site provides links to additional alternative non-government ID options, including the World Passport that can be applied for using only fingerprints with no existing government ID required, and the Digitalcourage ID physical card that can be ordered under your self-chosen name.

The project explicitly notes that formal ID requirements are often harmful, and that identity trust can be achieved through alternative systems like reputation, signatures, escrow and bearer instruments such as cash for most daily transactions.
