Core Capabilities
Clipy works directly in your browser, no initial app installation required. You can record a tab, window, or full screen with optional webcam overlay, system audio, and microphone input. Noise suppression is enabled by default. The share link is available to you in under 2 seconds the moment you stop recording.
All recordings are unlisted by default, and you can delete any of your clips at any time. There is no watermark on any recording, and you can record at resolutions up to 4K. There is no hard cap on recording length.
Any Clipy share link can be opened by any recipient in a browser with no account, no app download, and no sign-up required. The same URL that serves the video player for human viewers returns a structured .arec markdown document when accessed by an AI agent. This document includes an AI-generated summary of the recording, full timestamped transcript, timestamped key moments with extracted frames, click coordinates, cursor paths, and click target selectors.
Agent Workflow
To use Clipy with AI development agents like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, you only need to install the Clipy skill once. After that, any Clipy video link you paste into your agent interface will resolve to the structured context automatically, no extra per-recording steps required.
For private recordings in your personal library, you can use the public @clipy/mcp NPM package to give agents authenticated access to search your full recording library, read transcripts and summaries, and pull key moment frames directly into their context. You can also give agents the ability to run clipy.capture() directly to record their own work as they complete tasks, with the resulting share link immediately available to your team.
Clipy provides a full prompt that you can paste directly into Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor to let the agent handle most of the initial installation flow automatically, including setting up the CLI, the skill, and the MCP server. The agent will then identify any remaining components you need to install manually, such as the native Mac desktop app and Chrome extension.
Use Cases
Developers: Record a bug showing the broken UI state, click that triggers the error, and console message once. Paste the link into Claude Code, and the agent reads the full context to locate the problematic code and open a PR directly.
QA teams: Run a manual test session once, recording all your clicks and steps. The agent uses that recording to generate a full Playwright test suite automatically.
Product teams: Talk through a new feature pointing at specific UI elements, and the agent will turn that recording into properly structured tickets with attached frames.

Pricing Details
Clipy's free tier includes your first 15 recordings or your first 2 total hours of capture time, whichever you reach first. This free allowance never expires. No watermarks are applied to any recording, there is no 5-minute per-video length cap, and no viewer is ever asked to sign up to watch your shared content. When you exceed the free tier allowance, you can upgrade to the Pro plan for $9 per month. All recordings you made before upgrading remain fully playable and downloadable permanently.
